I do use "cute" time to time. Just grepped a bunch of my source tree to find about a few dozens of uses.

Would it be a problem for you (and anyone else reading this) to handle me a list of their uses of the cut/cute macro,

or at least check the percentage of them that is used for specializing binary predicates? (and, more preferably,

to see if the uses of cut can be categorized somehow)
