That's exactly what I'm saying:  downcase first, then trim.  That means that
ΦΊΛΟΣ and ΦΙΛΟΣΟΦΕΊΑ downcase to φίλος and φλοσοπεία respectively,
and then are truncated to φιλος and φιλοσ respectively, just as they should be.
