Nope.
> I set TERM to "vt100" so I don't have to deal with the alternate screen
Why don't you like it, and is that a common preference? I thought the
alt screen is a godsend.
Because I want to view some part of a file in the editor, quit, and then have it visible on the screen or in the backscroll. (Remember that I use a CLI editor, ex(1).

That is pretty hardcore. Troglodyte mode from the Jargon file?
Hardcore would be green on black, the colors of an actual VT100. I don't like black backgrounds, but I am willing to shade the color of the "paper" slightly, say to #xE0FFE0. Especially if I have several terminal windows open on different machines, so I don't make a dumbass move on the wrong machine.
What is a "which" string?
The first argument to term-init, specifying which terminal is being opened.
That sounds like a heroic early effort at command completion. There have
been many (I think elvish did some recently).
Elvish looks cool. I will investigate it.
