I'm not sure what you mean.  "Generally" in English means "usually, as a rule", which is not the case (most generators are finite), but perhaps you mean "in the general case".

I was using the mathematical terminology here.  You say "a general real number is irrational", although most real numbers you will encounter in practice will actually be rational.  So, yes, I mean "in the general case".
