I’ve been following the discussion on an off, so I might be slightly out
of context here. But! I find that Daphne’s concerns about SRFI 261 and
its implication are totally on point. Let’s see these for their virtues
and ignore the tone for a moment. Library name choices, clashes, and
inconsistencies are particularly important and should be considered
despite the expression medium.

I recall the moment in SRFI 253 design process when someone (Juliana
Sims?) told me that SRFI 253 is mine to shape. It is a reassuring idea
that SRFIs are their author’s statement, but there is some
responsibility in making a statement that doesn’t influence others’
statements in a bad or confusing way.
