That may have been a slight exaggeration, but most projects have just
one or two active contributors at a time. And the rest is
(unfortunately) true. I think more contributors would be be better for
long-term survivability.

There is a risk that a volunteer won't be found quickly enough, or the
transition just doesn't happen for some reason. The academia incentive
to work on Scheme is pretty much gone. It could be much harder to find
someone up for the task.
