You are correct to bring this point up, and I understand your concerns. We could add a post finalization note saying "For portability, please avoid optional short option arguments." But even with that, we'd still have some trouble, because of the long option issues, so "for portability, please avoid required long option arguments". It is frustrating, but unfortunately, the srfi behavior is under specified, so I don't think we can impose a resolution. -- Anthony Carrico
