Should be doable to add it.  I'm personally somewhat ambivalent about
this change, and I'm pretty sure some other CHICKEN maintainers will be
somewhat strongly against it.

Where would this go, though?  A SRFI, or should it be part of R8RS?
It's pretty core to the language.
