In the EU, it is debatable if the Google Analytics end of the spectrum is even legal, but it is definitely a no-no for scheme.org. I would like us to be as close to the stateless end as possible, while still allowing things like a usage counter or other types of hopefully benign statistics.

Agreed. Detailed analytics also tends to rely on brittle and complicated
technology.

A cron job to analyze the nginx logs and update the report daily or
weekly would be quite close to that.

> We should really try to have proper written rules for this, and consensus is better than me occasionally answering emails. But the whole point of the current organisation of scheme.org is that Lassi gets things done, and I don't, so I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for me to come up with something.

Yes, we should have a written agreement. My standard test case is,
Scheme.org should enable people who don't like each other to work under
the same roof. If that becomes difficult, then people will go to other
sites, the community will be more fragmented, information won't flow and
work will be duplicated.

https://www.scheme.org/charter/ is an incomplete draft. We should
gradually finish it. Comments on all aspects of the charter are very
welcome.
