Yes, thank both of you, John and Wolfgang. Everything has been
resolved perfectly. :)
(As I have raised it on this list: could you give a use case for
ranges where they cannot be efficiently replaced with generators?)

PS The addition of vector->range would have been a nice showcase (and
helpful for constructing non-numeric ranges) but in no way essential.
