Common Lisp has:

 > (concatenate 'list "fo" '(#\o #\b) #(#\a #\r))

We could imagine:

One of the main goals of Scheme Review is to stop repurposing the SRFI
list for non-SRFI stuff :)

I posted "Symbols as strings" as the initial proposal because it's a
good example of something that's neither substantial not mature enough
to be a SRFI.
